Summary: The Kintyre Way long distance footpath runs along the length of the Kintyre peninsula, starting at Tarbert in the north and finishing at Machrihanish in the south. The route passes through fishing villages, conifer forests, along stretches of coastline and across open hills and moors. The narrow peninsula means that the sea is never far away and there are frequently superb views to enjoy of neighbouring islands including Arran, Islay, Gigha, Jura and Rathlin. The Northern Irish mainland can also be seen during the final miles of the walk in the south of Kintyre. In all, this walk is a superb long distance footpath and one for conoisseurs of solitude in wild and open spaces.
