Summary
The Kintyre Way long-distance footpath passes through fishing villages and conifer forests, along stretches of rugged coastline, and across open hills and moors. Because of the narrow peninsula, the sea is never far away, providing frequent superb views of neighboring islands including Arran, Islay, Gigha, Jura, and Rathlin. The Northern Irish mainland can also be seen during the final miles of the walk in the south of Kintyre. Overall, this walk is a superb long-distance route and a true favorite for connoisseurs of solitude in wild and open spaces.
