Summary: Afoot in Two Dales is a former challenge walk which is now an open challenge circular walk using footpaths, bridleways and quiet roads through the attractive dales of Wensleydale and Swaledale. The route is a demanding one which has over 1,750 metres of ascent. From the start in the village of Harmby the route goes to Leyburn, Leyburn Shawl, Preston-under-Scar, Redmire, Castle Bolton, East Bolton Moor, Whitaside Moor, Gunnerside, Ivelet, Muker, Thwaite, Great Shunner Fell, Hardraw, Sedbusk, Bainbridge, Thornton Rust, Thoralby, West Burton and Middleham before returning to Harmby.
