Ambleside Ale Trail

A 35 miles long distance path which is a popular Lake District route, sponsored by Jennings Brewery. The most famous of the 'ale trails'. Maps, statistics and gpx route file for the walk are included.

Summary: This is one of a series of six 'Ale Trails' from the Jennings Brewery, details of which are available from the Jennings Brewery website. The route of 35 miles starts and finishes at the Inn on The Lake in Glenridding. The route initially heads for Ambleside via Brothers Water and Scandale Pass, then around Loughrigg Fell and on to Elterwater. It then heads for the Langdale Pikes, visiting four summits before following Easdale into Grasmere. Finally the route climbs to Grisedale Hause and heads down Grisedale and back to Glenridding.
