Summary: The Bell Walk Major is a circular walk which was devised by the Dronfield Parish Church Bellringers. The walk links the churches of Dronfield, Old Whittington, Norton, Dore, Hathersage, Totley and Holmesfield, all of which have bells. The route is passes through a range of habitats including woodland, industrial heritage sites, historical sites, parkland, moorland, villages, along rivers and through valleys. From the start in Dronfield the route visits Roughpiece Wood, The Brushes, Old Whittington, Hundal, Apperknowle, Troway, Norton, Meadow Head, Beauchief (include Abbey remains), Ladies Spring Wood, Abbeydale Park, Dore, Townhead, Blacka Plantation, Houndkirk Moor, Hathersage Moor, Hathersage, Leadmill Bridge, River Derwent, Upper Padley, Grindleford Station, Nether Padley, White Edge Moor, Flask Edge, Totley Moor, Wimble Holme Hill, Hillfoot, Totley, Holmesfield and Common Side.
