Summary: The Essex Way is a waymarked long distance footpath which runs through the heart of the county. It starts in Epping and finishes at the port of Harwich. It leads through ancient woodlands, farmland, river valleys and green lanes and visits a number of historic towns and villages along the way. The Essex Way crosses several other long distance footpaths including St Peter's Way, the Three Forests Way, the Saffron Trail and the Essex Clayway.
