Summary:
Devised by Richard Fox with help from his friends Win King and Bob King, the Fox Way is a circular walk around Guildford. The walk can be divided into 7 stages (the 7 link places being Ripley Green, Clandon, Shere, Bramley, Godalming, Wanborough and Worpleston), and maximum use is made of the four railway stations around Guildford. The walk passes through a range of habitats including ancient woodlands, chalk downland, heathland, meadows and waterways. Points of interest along the way, described in a single circuit and starting in a clockwise direction from Ripley are Brambleride Copse, August Hill, West Clandon, Clandon Downs, Sherbourne Pond, Albury Park, Shere, Little London, Brook, Blackheath Forest, Wonersh, Farley Hill, River Wey Navigation, Godalming, Aaron's Hill, Eashing Bridges, Park Dale, Shackleford Heath, Puttenham, Hog's Back, Flexford, Henley Park, Cobbett Hill, Worplesdon, Whitmoor Common, Prey Heath, Sutton Green, Cartbridge and the remains of Newark Priory near to Newark Lock.
