Summary: The Old Crown Round is a challenge walk established by Hesket Newmarket Brewery which has the obligation to go over the tops of High Pike, Skiddaw, Blencathra, Carrock Fell and Great Cockup, all mountains with beers named after them. The route can be self determined and the summits achieved in any order. However, the village of Hesket Newmarket must be used for the start and finish of the walk and the walk must be completed within a maximum time limit of 20 hours. As the route taken is self planned navigational skills are essential. The Old Crown Round is a high-level exposed circuit with some trackless and boggy areas. I have included a map and download files in .gpx and .kmz format for the most popular and used route taken by walkers ands fell runners who complete the Old Crown Round.
