Paulinus Way

A long distance path of 87 miles, tracing the journey of the missionary Paulinus of Rome within the counties of Yorkshire. It links the mill town of Todmorden in the west with the City of York in the east. Maps, statistics and gpx route file for the walk are included.

Summary: The Paulinus (Pilgrimage and Heritage) Way starts in Todmorden on the Yorkshire and Lancashire border and follows the path retracing the steps of Paulinus until it reaches the historic city of York where Paulinus became the first Bishop of York. The route across the ridings of Yorkshire which in the time of Paulinus was the Kingdom of Northumbria goes from Todmorden to York via Staups Moor, Heptonstall, Hedben Bridge, Calder Dale, Midgley, Luddenden, Halifax, Siddal, Southowram, Brighouse, Kirklees Cut, Mirfield, Dewsbury, Horbury Bridge, Wakefield, Bottom Boat, Mickletown, Woodlesford, Leeds, Scarcroft, Bramham, Tadcaster, Copmanthorpe and Bishopthorpe. Thrpughout its course the way makes use of a number of established and well known footpaths including the Calderdale Way, Kirklees Way, Trans Pennine Trail, Leeds Country Way and Ebor Way.
