Summary: The Saffron Trail is a long distance footpath od around 70 miles in length which crosses the county of Essex from Southend-on-Sea in the south east to Saffron Walden in the north west. Terrain is varied and includes riverside, woodland, towns and villages, historic buidings and monuments and the open Essex countryside. From Southend-on-Sea the walks heads across Essex to Saffrom Walden via Hadleigh, Rayleigh, Hockley, Hullbridge, Battlesbridge, East Hanningfield, Danbury, Chelmsford, Broomfield, Broad's Green, Great Waltham, Howe Street, Littley Green, Felsted, Little Dunmow, Great Dunmow, Little Easton, Great Easton, Tilty, Chickney, Woodend Green, Henham, Little Henham, Widdlington, Newport, Wendens Ambo and Audley End.
